Bmw X5 overview

The BMW X5 was first introduced by car-maker in 1999. It was the car manufacturer’s first SUV and is a luxury mid-size SUV which appeals to those wishing to drive on uncharted terrain. Its all-wheel drive is referred to as the X drive system and the SUV is available with the manual or automatic transmission. The second generation X5 was launched in 2006 and was called the E70. The car-maker has tried to differentiate the X5 from other cars in its category by referring to it as a Sports Activity Vehicle instead of a Sports Utility Vehicle.

The BMW X5 is available in a petrol edition or diesel edition. It’s energy-saving LED lights are used for day-time running and parking purposes. The Bi-xenon headlights provided fantastic illumination when the car is driven under bad weather conditions or at nighttime. It offers a wide range when it comes to choosing the engine of their choice for automobile owners. Made in the auto-manufacturer’s first American plant in Spartanburg, South Caroline, the X5 quickly became a massive success in the United States of America.

Designed by keeping 5 people in mind, the first generation BMW X5 gave way to the second-generation X5 which can potentially seat 7 people. The second generation X5 also comes with larger boot space much to the delight of its owners. The current BMW X5 is available in three variants which include the X5 xDrive35i, X5 xDrive50i and the X5 xDrive35d. xDrive is used to refer to the standard all-wheel-drive system which helps to enhance the X5’s all-weather capability. The X5 provides utility as a result of its all-wheel drive and the optional third-row seating which makes travel a lot easier for large families or people carrying large amounts of cargo.

Both the ‘I’ models come with a eight-speed automatic transmission while a six-speed automatic is a standard feature of the BMW X5. The 35i edition is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 and the 50i edition is equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine. The 35d edition comes with a fuel-efficient turbo-diesel inline-6. Some of the exterior features which are standard in the BMW X5 variants include power outside mirrors, roof rails, intermittent rain-sensing windshield wipers and the rear window washer/wiper. The BMW X5 also comes with the option of keyless entry which is a luxury in itself. The fuel tank holds approximately 22 Gallons. The mileage per gallon in the city is 14 and the mileage per gallon on highways is 20.
